September Summary

September was a crazy month for our family and I have a feeling it will be every year from now on between school starting and all the birthdays. Here are some of the things that our family experienced this month(ish):

Jaxson started kindergarten!
Jaxson has been doing so well in school and his teacher tells me almost every day that he "knows his stuff" and it's "just clicking" with him. The change I've seen in the last 6 months is just incredible! I know we owe a lot of his success to his school but I am just so proud of all his hard work and how he just keeps trying even when it gets hard. He speaks so much better and you can actually have a conversation with him and he can tell you things that aren't just something he's seen in a movie or on a TV show. I can finally get some sleep at night instead of tossing and turning from worry that he might not figure it out and that something is seriously wrong. I'm not naive enough to think that he won't need some additional help along the way but it's nice to finally get some positive feedback and see him become his own person.

MaKenzie turned 2!
Kenzie is definitely a 2 year old now. Within the last week she has demanded that she do everything on her own, totally by herself. This goes for opening doors, climbing into chairs and getting dressed. Anything her brother is doing she instantly has to do also. She's very competitive with Jaxson and her daddy. She recently decided she doesn't like Daddy which is so heartbreaking to watch! The solution, however, is the most adorable thing to watch because it consists of Mike having to woo her and baby her until she gives him hugs and kisses :) I love to watch all of that because it's exactly what he should be doing to show her what to expect from guys when she's older. I really don't want her to think it's OK for a guy to treat her like anything less than a princess because that's what she is.

Mike and I turned 29!
Yep. Last awesome birthday haha. We had a good time even though are plans fell through. We have big plans this year so it was exciting to kick off the shenanigans!

Getting ready to move!
We very recently found a new place that is closer to our old home but still close enough to Mike's work that it won't be too long of a commute. If all goes as planned we will be in the new place for Halloween! It's so exciting to move to a new place and decorate a new home but it's also so stressful! I'm going to have a very busy start to our October but it will also be a whole lot of fun!

Pictures!
Here are some pictures from September that didn't make it into any other posts :)

Best Birthday Ever

I don't even know what to say. My heart is bursting! I received the best present I could ever ask for! The best family in the world let me know how much I am loved and I can't find the words to express how I feel. My mom had every member of my family write me a letter or color a picture for me and she sent them all to me in a package that arrived on my birthday. It was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me and I just feel so loved! The letters from my nieces and nephews were beyond adorable and it was nice to see how much they've grown. The letters from my siblings were personal and filled with happy memories of our childhood that left me feeling so full of love and understanding that I couldn't hold back the tears of happiness. My parents' letters were also personal and filled with things proud parents say :)
All in all it was an amazing experience that I will never forget. I have a whole stack of forever "I love you's" from the people I love most in this world. What more could a person ask for?

Navajo Tacos

Last night our family had the chance to get together at Mike's Mom's house for some authentic Navajo tacos. It was a beautiful day and we spent some time hanging out outside in the front yard where the kids played in the tree swing and threw the ball around. Mike decided to show off to the kids and climbed the enormous tree in Willie's front yard and yelled to me to take his picture. Dinner was amazing as usual and we got to relax for a bit while Jax, Grandma and Uncle Matt played Sorry. We all had a great time and I can't wait to do it again :) Here are a couple pictures of Mike in a tree LOL

Work Lagoon Day

Mike's employer has an annual Lagoon day every summer. I hardly ever ride the rides and the kids are too small to ride most of the big rides that Mike likes so we invited my brother Josh to join us this year. They had a great time and we got some awesome pictures and video. Josh seemed to be having a great time until he rode a new ride called Air Race or something like that but you could see a change in his face and color when it was over. Poor guy gets motion sickness pretty easily and I should have remembered that. We decided to call it a day at that point and headed for home. Josh got even sicker on the ride home and let's just say we had to make a pit stop so we could clean out the car and josh could change his clothes. Everything was fine but it makes me laugh because to this day Jax will come up to me randomly and say; "Hey, Mom! Uncle Josh got sick and threw up in the car!" LOL I don't know if he even remembers going on rides that day because all he talks about is Uncle Josh getting sick. All in all it was a fun and exhausting day. Here are a few of the photos Mike took while on the rides. Love my cute boys :)

My Last Year As A 20-Something

So I'm turning 29 next week. Awesome. Basically the last youthful year for a woman. Please hold back your comments like, "You're as old as you feel" or "30 is the new 20" or whatever other sad thing you've been told that made you think anything other than the very obvious truth, "You're OLD." I'm not sitting over here feeling sorry for myself and lamenting years passed... Quite the opposite. I've decided to embrace the awful truth that this is the last year to be young and dumb and having a chance of getting away with it by kicking off a 20's Bucket List! I'm going to pack in everything I can that I've wanted to do while I'm young into the last year of my 20's. That in combination with Mike's and my 10 year wedding anniversary will make for one incredibly memorable year. Since I'm not a millionaire and Mike can't exactly take months off work I'm going to plan as many stay-cations as possible and I'm shooting for a dream vacation to Hawaii and possibly a cruise somewhere in there. It's something I've been thinking about for a couple years now and it's crazy to think the kickoff is right around the corner. I can't think of a better way to bring on my 30's.

Jaxson Read His First Book!

Yep, you heard right! My JaxMan has officially read his first book all by himself! Just typing the words make me tear up out of pride. If you don't know Jaxson or what we've been through the last few years and all the work we've done to get him to talk and communicate and express himself then you probably don't get just HOW EXCITED we are about this! This is just one more thing that is going to help him build his language and social skills, not to mention his confidence. He has come so far in the year he's been in school at Bravo that he's hardly the same child in a lot of ways. I don't know what we would have done without his amazing school and teachers. I'm totally overcome with emotions about this in a good way and I'm unbelievably proud of Jaxson and everything he's accomplished in such a short time. Love you, Jaxson! Keep up the great work!

Happy Birthday Mike!

We celebrated Mike's 29th birthday just a couple of days ago. He works so often it was nice to have a whole day with him all to ourselves. We went to FatCats arcade after w picked up Jaxson from school and Daddy and Jax got to play video games together while I chased Kenzie around the place. After the arcade Jax and I took Mike and Kenzie home so Kenzie could take a nap and then headed to the store to buy a cake mix and some new shoes or Daddy. Mike's favorite cake is carrot cake so that's what we got. We had spaghetti for dinner and just spent some quality time together at home. Since our birthdays are only a week apart we are planning a trip to either Wendover or Las Vegas as a little getaway to celebrate but spending Mike's birthday together at home was perfect. I love being with Mike and the kids just relaxing and enjoying each other's company. It was a great birthday for a perfect man :) Love you Mike!!

Jaxson Is Ready To Read

I just love this kid! He's so big and getting bigger every day. His teacher said today that he is ready to start reading and assigned him his first book to read. I'm so proud of him. He has worked so hard to learn how to articulate and express himself and I feel like learning to read is just one more tool to help him with that. Good job JaxMan! Keep up the great work :)

MaKenzie's 2nd Birthday

MaKenzie celebrated her 2nd birthday on September 5th. We had a Colletti Family BBQ on her birthday and a second party for her at the park the next day. I had the best time spoiling her for her birthday and I'm so glad I did. We spent the last couple of days playing with all the fun toys and baby dolls she got. I can't believe she's already 2 years old! She's the most beautiful girl in the world and I love being her mommy. I don't know what I would do without the ray of sunshine that is MaKenzie in my life. Love you BabyGirl!

I'm the worst at this

Wow it's been forever. I really meant to post more but obviously that hasn't happened. I recently got my computer fixed so I can use it instead of my phone which helps. Lots has happened in the last year. Mike has been promoted which is awesome and he's actually up for another promotion in the next 6 months. We will be moving again soon but not to our own home just yet. We'll be renting for another year or so but I'm excited to be in the market for a new home again. Jaxson and MaKenzie are growing so fast it hurts! Jaxson just started kindergarten and MaKenzie just had her 2nd birthday. As for me, I'm just kinda hanging out at home being Mom and Wife for now. I have some plans to go back to work and school in the next year but I haven't done anything but think and talk about it so far. Being a STAM (stay at home mom) is great and everything but after 4 years I'm definitely ready for a change. It would be nice to have some independence and an identity outside of Jaxson and Kenzie's mom, although that identity is one of the best I've ever owned.

Well here's to me hopefully posting more often and getting back to that little piece of ME that has been lost for a little while, even if I'm the only person reading this :)
